Grades K–5 (Kit)
From grain to flour in your hands! Help students explore where bread begins by examining real wheat stalks and grinding wheat seeds into flour. This hands-on kit connects agriculture to everyday food while encouraging curiosity about the process of growing, harvesting, and preparing grain.
Students will see, touch, and process wheat as they turn the hand-cranked grain mill to transform kernels into flour. The grain mill produces a coarser grind than the wheat grinder, making it a great way to compare flour textures and discuss how different tools create different food products.
Kit Contents
- Bag of wheat seeds
- Wheat bundle with 35 stalks
- Hand-cranked grain mill
Additional Supplies
Optional add-ons to expand your activity:
