Grades K–5 (Kit)

Grow your own farm in the palm of your hand! This kit gives students the chance to plant five different types of seeds in the fingers of a food handler’s glove, creating a mini greenhouse they can watch transform over time. It’s a fun, hands-on way to explore plant growth, germination, and the diversity of seeds.

With just cotton, water, and a glove, students will observe sprouts emerging within a few days. This activity makes plant science accessible and engaging, giving young learners a memorable introduction to agriculture, biology, and genetics.

Looking for a single-seed version? Try the Farming in a Glove – Corn Seeds kit.

Need a quick set of supplies for an upcoming class project or teacher training. These are my go-to! This class kit is easy to modify for K-6 grade levels and align to a variety of ag literacy and NGSS standards.

    Farming in a Glove

Our first grade classes use these every year when learning about plants. We hang them in the hallway windows so everyone can watch them grow. The older students like the reminder of when they were in first grade. :-)

    Farm in a Glove

This is a wonderful activity that brings the students right to the farming and growing experience. My students have been writing and inquiring about how each plant is growing and are anxious everyday to view.
