Grades K-12 (Kit)
Look around and identify the items you rely on every day. They likely include food, clothing, modes of transportation such as cars or bikes, building materials such as steel or wood, various technological devices such as cell phones or computers, and several tools and machines. Where did these items and raw materials used to make them originate? Doing the Source Search relay helps students answer that question. Use the Source Search Item Reference List or view this video for the correct answers and explanations for each card.
Kit includes: Source Search picture cards and basket labels. Or purchase the full Source Search Kit.
Activity instructions, background information and additional resources to accompany this activity can be found in the lesson plans A Search for the Source found on the National Agricultural Literacy Curriculum Matrix. Select the grade band relevant to your classroom.
